Malcolm joined Quarterbridge in Summer, 2016 following his time as Chief Operating Officer with Geraud Markets UK where he had operational responsibility for its UK and Scandinavian portfolios.
Prior to that he had a long career in local government working for two of the biggest Metropolitan Districts in the UK (Leeds and Bradford) and the largest County (North Yorkshire) amongst others.
His operational management experience in the retail and wholesale markets industry commenced in the early 1990’s with Leeds City Council and Kirklees MBC. He became Head of Markets, Parks & Landscapes and Bereavement Services with Bradford Council in 2001 where he gained all party agreement to allowing markets surpluses to be re invested, the first agreement of its kind and one that still stands today.
His team also successfully delivered annual strategic retail market led events programmes that set the baseline for the UK with International Market Festivals in 2004 and 2006 drawing over a million visitors to the City.
He moved to Bolton MBC in 2007 as a Chief Officer for a group of eight commercial services including Bolton Market. That service was the first in the UK to introduce a market kitchen and an electronic loyalty card as well as winning a string of national awards including Best Food Market in the BBC Food and Farming Awards in 2011.
Malcolm is professionally qualified in Finance, Human Resources Management and has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Until recently, he was the policy advisor to the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and regularly spoke on behalf of the UK markets industry across Europe
