The ING Real Estate Northgate redevelopment in Chester City Centre includes a 55,000 sq. ft. replacement market hall and Quarterbridge has been advising the City Council on all aspects of its development. Architects are Chapman Taylor and Michael Hopkins with Quarterbridge designing the sales floor and the first floor storage/preparation rooms. The market will trade six days per week. The scheme includes a state of the art foodhall with a new frontage to Northgate and bus station that will dramatically increase footfall.
The user mix has been zoned to encourage comparison- shopping with the adjacent department store and retail development. Construction will be in two phases to ensure continuity of trade and the design will match shoppers' retail expectations for the twenty first century: transparent, modern materials and excellent sightlines.
