Quarterbridge - Development Management for Retail Markets and Food Halls

In 2002 Quarterbridge were commissioned by Portsmouth City Council to evaluate alternative sites for the Charlotte Street Market which had to be relocated before the redevelopment of the “Northern Quarter” (including the notorious 1960’s Tricorn Centre) could take place. Quarterbridge consulted widely and assessed 7 options before eventually recommending Commercial Road after CAD layouts confirmed its practicality. The report was prepared to a demanding timescale and drew on lessons learnt from the relocation of Redditch market some 2 years before, and recommended operational improvements to satisfy the concerns of adjacent retailers.
